Wong Fei-Hong (Jackie Chan) is a young man in love with martial arts. He trains a martial art called "Drunken boxing", without the permission of his father who is absolutely against any kind of fighting. After coming home from a shopping expedition with his father Wong Fei-Hong gets caught up in a battle caused by some valuable Chinese artifacts. The battle is between some Chinese loyalists who don't want the artifacts to leave China, and some foreigners who want to export the artifacts. Wong Fei-Hong fights the foreigners with his unique "drunken boxing" style and tries to hide it from his father, who doesn't let him engage in any kind of violent activities.
